Winter holiday in the Krkonose is a matter of the heart

The Krkonose Mountains offer a stable snow cover, resorts without crowds and mountains of experiences, even if you're not into skiing. They offer a rugged climate and a friendly face.

It combines the experience of pure nature and impeccable service in modern resorts. In the morning you fly down the corduroy on a perfectly groomed slope, in the afternoon you walk through a snow-white plain lined with leathery spruce trees for distant views. The next day, you'll put on your cross-country skis and run up the glistening tracks to the highest parts of the mountains, for the crisp air and warmth of the mountain chalets. With the kids, you'll sledge down every other hill. Take shelter from the blizzard in museums, workshops and swimming pools, and warm up in spas and wellness centres.

Winter in the Krkonose Mountains is simply magical and can be etched in the heart and memory. See for yourself!

Come to ski to the highest Czech mountains

There is more than 180 kilometres of great ski slopes in the Krkonose Mountains. Quiet resorts with gentle slopes for families can be found in Mala Upa or Paseky nad Jizerou. The glitz and glamour of luxury and the busy aprés ski programmes in Spindleruv Mlyn. The slopes of Janske Lazne and Pec pod Snezkou are linked by one ski pass to the largest resort in the Czech Republic, SkiResort CERNA HORA - PEC. In Rokytnice nad Jizerou, head down the longest of all the Krkonose ski slopes.

Come and choose where you will go this year!

Family holidays with or without ski

Welcome to the winter kingdom! When the Krkonose Mountains are covered in snow and everything sparkles like a fairy tale, no adventurer big or small can resist winter fun.

The snow-covered hills beckon for a ride, whether you're skiing, cross-country skiing, bobsledding, sledging, bagging or shovelling. Where's the best place to ride? Which area is suitable for beginner skiers, or which trail can a little cross-country skier tackle? Where to go for fun, or where to hide when the weather isn't nice.

We'll advise you and offer you lots of family-friendly experiences to make your mountain holiday perfect!

You can do it on foot even in winter

Shimmering snowdrifts that you can sink into up to your waist, snow crunching underfoot, snow-white views, waterfalls flowing under the ice crust - these are the winter Krkonoše. Do you want to discover it all on your own feet? Go hiking on the ridges even in winter, but choose suitable routes, be careful and respectful of cross-country skiers or ski mountaineers. Do not enter groomed tracks. And be well equipped!

The ideal winter walk is around the White Labe river in Spindleruv Mlyn. From Horni Misecky you can walk to the Labska bouda chalet, in Harrachov you can walk along the Mumlava river to the waterfall and on to the Krakonos's breakfast...

Discover the right route for your feet!

Krkonose White Tracks

The Krkonose cross-country ski trails are not run for the kilometres covered, but with a passion for the distant views, the freedom of movement through the snowy landscape, the warm grog in the mountain hut... The mountains are criss-crossed with trails, but keep in mind that they are often used by hikers, serving as supply routes for the mountain huts you like to warm up in. Their condition and layout is appropriate. Before you set off, check the current condition with data from groomers' rollerblades and snowmobiles.

If you want to put in the miles on a perfect trail, fine-tune your style, or just get a good stretch after a long day, choose one of the perfectly groomed cross-country skiing areas. Even the pros use them for training.

From hut to hut on skialps

Enjoy the Krkonose Mountains without queues at the cable car turnstiles. Experience the feeling of freedom of movement in the embrace of peaceful mountain nature and the adrenaline rush of skiing down the slopes of mountain giants. You will be limited only by your own strength and the rules set by the KRNAP for your safety and nature protection. Replenish your strength with regular stops at the mountain chalets, which are a fragrant oasis of warmth during the winter even in the midst of a snowstorm. But you can't get out of following the rules! Use only selected routes, equip yourself well, and keep an eye on the avalanche situation.

Winter experiences without ski

The winter fairy tale of the Krkonose Mountains is not just for skiers and cross-country skiers. There are many ways to enjoy the snow. On the toboggan run, in the trough of the bobsledge run or in the treetops. Try snowtubing, hide in museums, swimming pools and water parks.

Did you know that the new Krkonose Museum opened in Vrchlabi in autumn with the largest exhibition on the Krkonose Mountains in the world? We definitely recommend it for gloomy days.
