From Benecko to the Zaly Viewing Tower
Visit the only viewing tower in the Krkonose which offers, in good weather, a unique 360-degree view not only of the Krkonose but also its wide environs.
You can start at the central car park in Benecko, near the Skalka hotel, where you can take the red-marked hiking path uphill on a reinforced road in the direction of the Kubat hotel. There you can leave the main road and continue next to it for the Zlata vyhlidka hotel. From there, it only takes to climb up Predni Zaly hill to this popular viewing tower.
The gallery of the original, later reconstructed, 18 m tall tower, built by Count Harrach, offers a view of the summits of the Western Krkonose, Mount Snezka – the highest Czech mountain, and also the landmarks of the Krkonose foothills. The adjacent timbered chalet offers refreshments and basic souvenirs. After a well-deserved rest, you can continue down an easy descent via Zadni Zaly, leaving the red hiking path before an intersection where you turn right to the forest and go straight down a wide road to the Zaly hotel.
Taking the yellow-marked hiking path, you will return to the main road and then follow the blue-marked path back to the car park.
