Jiri Harcuba Memorial

Tours can be arranged from June to September

The timbered ground-floor house with a grinding workshop has been preserved in a form characteristic of folk architecture on the border of the Jizera Mountains and the Krkonose Mountains. It originated as a glassmaker’s dwelling in connection with the glassworks in Novy Svet and is a typical example of regional vernacular architecture from the late 18th century.

The house contains a historically rare home-based grinding and engraving workshop, forming a uniquely preserved collection of glassmaking technologies. Thanks to this, the house was entered into the Central Register of Cultural Monuments in 1980.

Arrange a Tour

The house is currently open to the public only twice a year: in June during the Days of Folk Architecture and then in September as part of the European Heritage Days.

If you are interested in a private tour, please contact the curator of the Jiri Harcuba Memorial collection at the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec at kristyna.rossmannova@muzeumlb.cz. Private tours can only be arranged in advance, from June to September, for groups of at least eight people.
