The tradition of the post office on Snezka dates back to September 1, 1899, when the first one was opened. It operated on the highest Czech mountain until the Sudetenland was occupied by Germany in 1938. After World War II, it served only as a storage facility.
Postal services on Snezka were restored by Jaroslava Skrbkova, a former postmistress from Velks Upa, who renovated an old fast-food kiosk for this purpose and also became the investor in the new post office. The new post office building was designed by architects Martin Rajnis and Patrik Hoffman. Its registration number is 542 91 Ceska postovna.
The current post office is a wooden assembly of 20,000 pieces, touching the ground only with twelve steel feet, thus floating several decimeters above it. The building's envelope consists of double glazing and wooden shutters, which can be adjusted to transform the post office from a modern glass building into a wooden hut, allowing it to adapt to weather conditions. The building has an external spiral staircase leading to a viewing platform.
