The Stone Guardian of Spindleruv Mlyn

The Labska Dam greets you as soon as you enter Spindl. Quiet, solid, dignified. The first dam on the Elbe has been protecting the landscape below the mountains for more than a hundred years. At the same time, it offers a beautiful spot for an easy walk. You can manage it even with a stroller or small children.

Water as Protection

The Labska Dam was built in response to the devastating floods at the end of the 19th century. Water, which once took away homes, was given firm boundaries here. Since 1916, the dam has been quietly and reliably protecting the valley beneath the mountains.

Fishing with a View

If you bring a rod and the proper permit, you can even fish here. Recreational fishing is permitted by the Spindleruv Mlyn Forestry Administration. Permits are issued by Mr. Milan Pavlík (tel. 603 900 792), available at the forester's lodge at Labska No. 30, above the Clarion Hotel towards Rovinka.
