The Krkonose cyclobuses are tourist bus lines that help cyclists and hikers with transport in the Krkonose Mountains and Podkrkonoší.

Plan your trips to interesting places in our highest mountains without worrying about the altitude!

Nine lines cross the Krkonose Mountains from west to east

Information about operation

The buses operate annually from June to September. This year specifically from 25 May to 29 September. In June they run every Saturday and Sunday, in July and August daily, and in September on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Some lines will also run on Thursdays in September. 

The bus will also transport your e-bike, but you need to protect the battery. Therefore, please remove it from the bike before boarding and take it with you on the bus.

A backbone line connects the entire mountain range. It is the only existing bus line that takes you from one side of the Krkonose Mountains to the other. It runs through Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Jilemnice, Vrchlabi, Janske Lazne, Svoboda nad Upou and Pec pod Snezkou. 

The cyclobus can carry 20 bicycles.

If you are heading to the Krkonose Mountains by train, you can get on the bus right at the railway station in Martinice, which will take you through Jilemnice to Zlaté navrsi and allow you to continue on to the peaks, for example to Labska bouda and the source of the Labe River. The bus is there for hikers and families with strollers.

Cyclists with bicycles are only transported by buses at 10:15 and 14:40 from Jilemnice and at 11:00 and 15:30 from Misecky. Other lines are for pedestrians only.

From Hradec comfortably and without changing to the ridges of the Krkonose Mountains! Every Saturday and Sunday, the cyclobus will take you from Hradec to Spindlerova bouda. This year, the line takes a different route, stopping in Horice, Lazne Belohrad, Pecka or Nova Paka. From Hradec the cyclobus departs at 8:55 and 14:55, from Spindleruv Mlvn at 11:07 and 17:07.

The second line can be used either on the route Vrchlabi - Spindleruv Mlyn - Spindlerova bouda, or for a trip along the Labe river to Dvur or to the Baroque area of Kuks. From Hradec the cyclobus leaves at 7:20 and from Spindleruv Mlyn at 17:25. But beware - it only runs on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays! Between Spindlerova bouda and Spindleruv Mlyn it runs more frequently and daily.

A line from Spindleruv Mlyn also runs to the Spindlerova bouda at regular intervals. It transports pedestrians and families with prams. 

On Saturdays and Sundays you can take the morning line from Hradec Kralove to the eastern Krkonose Mountains. Around ten o'clock you are in Pec or Pomezni boudy and you have a whole beautiful day ahead of you in the saddle of a bicycle. On weekdays, the bus leaves only from Trutnov. 

You can also get to the Krkonose Mountains with your bicycles from Nachod, Upice or Rtyne v Podkrkonosí. You can take a ride along the Krkonose ridges or through the countryside below Snezka, and in the afternoon you can take the cyclobus back again. On the Trutnov - Pomezni boudy route, there is one more morning connection at 6:48 on weekends. 

Both buses can carry 38 bikes.

Pedestrian only

The bus runs from Harrachov to Rokytnice and from there via Frantiskov and Rezek to Vitkovice in the Krkonose Mountains and Horni Misecky and continues after a short break to Zlate navrsi. This unique connection, which you will not find in the regular timetable, allows you to plan interesting trips in the western Krkonose Mountains.  

In the opposite direction, the bus departs from Jilemnice.

Are you tempted by the Zaly Lookout Tower but discouraged by the long climb from Vrchlabí or Jilemnice? Take advantage of this cyclobus line. It will take you to Benecko, from where you can continue via the lookout tower to Rovinka, Mísečky or Špindlerův Mlýn. 

Bicycles are only transported on the 8:10 and 17:25 lines from Jilemnice and on the 9:20 and 18:25 lines from Vrchlabí, the others are for pedestrians only.

Cyclo-bus carries 11 bicycles.

The regular lines take hikers to Vrbatova bouda on Zlate navrsi. From there you can go in all directions along the Krkonose ridges. The line will be in operation from 1 June. 

Horni Misecky - Zlate navrsi

Zlate navrsi - Horni Misecky

Take advantage of the new line from Vrchlabi and be taken to Strazne. Then you can continue on your bike to Spindleruv Mlyn, Vyrovka or Dolni Dvur. Beware - not all connections are equipped for transporting bicycles. Only the connections at 9:35 and 17:35 from Vrchlabi and at 10:02 and 18:02 from Strazne will take the bikes. The bus will take a maximum of 6 bikes. 

Vrchlabi - Strazne

Zaclersko region and the Vrani hory Mountains are perhaps the easternmost part of the Krkonose Mountains, but by no means forgotten. They deserve your attention especially for their quietness, hiking and cycling readiness, many pleasant off-road cycling trails and beautiful views of the Krkonose Mountains.

This line goes from Trutnov via Babi or Lampertice to Zacler and returns back via Bertnartice to Trutnov. It carries a maximum of 6 bicycles.
