Town Hall Tower Gallery

Climb to the attic of the town hall and then go up 88 steps to the viewing gallery in the 37 m tall townhall tower. It offers a beautiful view of the Krkonose’s ridges.

The town hall is an early Modern Age building, typical for the German-speaking areas of Bohemia at the beginning of the century, drawing inspiration from the historising forms of Alpine Renaissance while already incorporating the emerging Art Nouveau vocabulary, especially as regards the interior. It was built in 1902–1903 by local builder Josef Hajek following a project by architects Viktor Krause and Kleofas Hollmann of Vrchlabi.

The tower has windows on all four sides, allowing a 360-degree view. Access to the town hall attic and tower is possible via a separate side entrance past the Municipal Information Centre on the ground floor. The tower is accessible via a turnstile on a gangway in the attic, and up to 10 people can be in the tower at the same time. The entrance fee can be paid at the Information Centre. For local card holders and ‘Rokytnice Plus’ guest card holders, access is free if they take a token at the Information Centre.
