Krkonose – Cross Country Skier’s Paradise

Krkonose – Cross Country Skier’s Paradise

The project seeks to interlink the entire area of the Krkonose Mountains and many places in the adjacent Podkrkonosi region with a network of regularly groomed ski tracks. This project is unique in both the Czech Republic and Europe. Every winter season, more than 500 km of cross-country skiing tracks are prepared for skiers. A qualified estimate gives almost one million visitors to the Krkonose Mountains every season who take the opportunity to use these well-groomed cross-country tracks that run through beautiful countryside. For practical information on the current condition of these groomed cross-country ski tracks in the Krkonose, see www.krkonose.eu or www.holidayinfo.cz.

Krkonose As Seen from a Bike

Krkonose As Seen from a Bike

This projects aims to substantially improve conditions for bike tourism in the mountain and submontane areas of the Krkonose. It includes almost 200 kilometres of bike tracks which run through the Krkonossky National Park, the main Krkonose Cycling Track 22, which leads from the Jizerske Mountains via the Krkonose Mountains to the Jeseniky Mountains, and also a further 200 km of tracks in the submontane parts of the region, mostly with a low difficulty level. The tracks are well marked and equipped with simple maps and rest areas offering beautiful views of the central Krkonose ridges and the foothills. Opportunities for bike trips around the Krkonose region are described in many information materials available from tourist information centres, accommodation facilities and at www.krkonose.eu.

Krkonose Cyclobuses

Krkonose Cyclobuses

This project provides a connection throughout the mountain range with the main line which runs across the mountains and allows the transport of bikes, followed up by other lines reaching the valleys and submontane areas. It is an important improvement to the transport services in the entire region for tourists, cyclists and residents. The Krkonose cyclobuses provide regular transport of visitors to the Krkonose Mountains in the summer season. They operate on weekends and national holidays in June, daily from 1 July to 31 August.and on weekends, Thursdays and national holidays in September. The main cyclobus line runs from Harrachov to Korenov, Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Benecko, Janske Lazne, Pec pod Snezkou and Horni Mala Upa. The line from Hradec Kralove leads through Horice, Dvur Kralove, Hostinne and Vrchlabi, and is operated only in the school holidays on Thursdays and Saturdays. The line provides easier access to the Krkonose mainly for residents of the Podkrkonosi region and around Hradec Kralove. Tourists accommodated in the Krkonose can use it to visit less frequently visited places in the Podkrkonosi region. The line from Vrchlabi to Spindleruv Mlyn is extended to Spindlerova chalet.

It usually comes with its own stall to regional and Czech fairs, and prefers cooperation with the CzechTourism state agency at foreign fairs in a joint presentation of the Czech Republic. These activities are closely coordinated with the Hradec Kralove and Liberec regions. Exhibitions are prepared by the staff of the Krkonose tourist information centres, which guarantees that comprehensive and professional information is available.
