Czech Tourism Centre – CzechTourism

 

CzechTourism is a state organisation founded by the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic and with its headquarters in Prague. CzechTourism acts as the coordinator of national tourism promotions abroad and develops the medium-term and current strategy for the marketing of tourism products at home and on foreign markets.

 


EU Subsidy

 

The Czech Republic has been a full member of the EU since 1 May 2004. This has opened up the opportunity of full participation in joint EU policies, including the economic and social cohesion policy. The EU seeks to reduce the differences between various regions in member states. The Czech Republic is among the less developed member countries and this provides many opportunities to strengthen the general and balanced development of the area.

 


Hradec Kralove Region

 

The Hradec Kralove Region lies in the northeast of the Czech Republic and borders Poland. It has an area of 4758 sq. km., making it the 9th largest of the 14 regions, including Prague. It comprises the five former districts of Hradec Kralove, Jicin, Nachod, Rychnov nad Kneznou and Trutnov. It has 448 boroughs, of which 1 is a statutory city and 42 are towns. It has a population of approx. 550 thousand. The Krkonose tourist region could not develop any of its tourism promotion projects without permanent support from the Hradec Kralove Region. Liberec Region

 

The Liberec Region lies in the north of Bohemia. It comprises the four former districts of Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou, Semily and Ceska Lipa, and covers an area of 3163 sq.km. It has a population of approx. 428 thousand. Four major tourist regions overlap the borders of the Liberec Region: Ceskolipsko, Cesky raj, the Jizerske Mountains and the Krkonose Mountains. Thanks to the permanent support from the Liberec Region, projects aimed at promoting tourism in these regions can be developed. Krkonossky National Park

 

The Krkonossky National Park was founded in 1963 and lies in the northeast of Bohemia along the Polish border, in the Hradec Kralove and Liberec regions. The Administration of the Krkonossky National Park operates an area of 54 969 hectares at an altitude from 400 m a.s.l. to 1602 m a.s.l. (Mount Snezka).

 


Mountain Rescue (Horska sluzba Ceske republiky o.p.s.)

 

Mountain Rescue was established by the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic. This organisation, along with the citizens’ initiative of rescue volunteers, seeks to protect the health and provide assistance to visitors to the mountains in both winter and summer.

 


Sitour Česká republika s. r. o.

 

This company is a subsidiary of Sitour Austria, which was established in 1964. The Czech subsidiary was established in 1995 and has affiliates in Slovakia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, USA, Canada and Japan under the Sitour International network. The original business, delivering information systems to ski resorts, later expanded to cover promotions in ski resorts, the operation of webcams and the presentation of a feature entitled Panorama TV, shown every day on Czech TV from 7.50 to 8.30 am. Sitour ranks among the leading companies worldwide in this industry. It has been a long-term supporter of the projects “Krkonose – Cross Country Skier’s Paradise” and “Krkonose As Seen from a Bike”.

 


UNIQA

 

UNIQA insurance started their activities in the Czech Republic in 1993. As the holder of a universal insurance licence, it has established a wide portfolio of products covering all segments of the Czech market as regards the insurance of persons, property, private individuals and legal entities. UNIQA supports the development of the Krkonose Cyclobuses project.

 


CEZ Foundation

 

CEZ Foundation, founded by the power company CEZ a.s., was established in 2002. CEZ a.s. and other companies in the group are the major donors. The foundation runs their donor activities and has been among the most generous foundations in the Czech Republic. It was declared the greatest company foundation in the Czech Republic in the TOP COMPANY FILANTROP 2005 polls. The CEZ foundation gives almost 200 mil. CZK to charity every year. It has repeatedly supported the project “Krkonose – Cross Country Skier’s Paradise”.

 


Krkonose – Genuine Product

 

Products that bear the special Krkonose logo – Genuine Product (‘originalni produkt’) can be bought in the Krkonose region. This mark means that the product has undergone a strict certification process which guarantees that it has originated in the Krkonose. The mark is awarded by the association Local Action Group Krkonose (Mistni akcni skupina Krkonose, where the Krkonose Union of Towns and Boroughs is a member party) to craft products, farm products and natural products. The designation of local products is one of the options of how to combine nature protection and human activity. The mark can benefit from the uniqueness of the Krkonose as a region with preserved nature in the National Park and as part of the European Natura 2000 system.

 


MAS Krkonose

 

Local Action Group (MAS) Krkonose is a citizens’ association established in September 2005. MAS Krkonose was founded in order to provide general support for the development of the Krkonose region and the submontane areas through activities that can be realised to the benefit of residents and visitors, boroughs, NGO’s, small private businesses, small and medium-sized enterprises and other entities that are active in the region.

 


Związek Gmin Karkonoskich

 

Związek Gmin Karkonoskich was established in 1992 in Poland as an association of seven larger boroughs of approximately the same area and population as those in the Krkonose Union of Towns and Boroughs. The two associations signed a Memorandum of Friendship, Understanding and Cooperation in 2004. Their joint objective is to promote the vision of “The Krkonose – Mountains without Borders”.

 


Association of Tourist Regions of the Czech Republic – ATUR CZ

 

The Association of Tourist Regions of the Czech Republic – ATUR CZ was established in Prague on 12 May 2004, with the founding members being five tourist regions – the Cesky raj Association, the Association of Eastern Bohemian Towns and Boroughs, Krkonose – Union of Towns and Boroughs, Region Slovacko Association and the Sumpersko–Jeseniky Tourist Association. Its main objective is to present, promote and protect the interests of tourist regions in the Czech Republic.

 


Euroregion Glacensis

 

By signing the treaty on establishing the joint Euroregion Glacensis in 1996, concluded between the association of towns and boroughs ‘Pomezi Cech, Moravy a Kladska’ and the Association of Klodzko Boroughs, several years of efforts focusing on the development of transboundary cooperation in both countries came to fruition, laying the cornerstone for the largest and oldest Czech-Polish Euroregion.

 


Euroregion Nisa

 

The Neisse – Nisa – Nysa Euroregion is the first generally accepted form of transnational cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe. It was established in 1991 and became a pioneer as regards cooperation between the border regions. The objective of the cooperation is to overcome barriers in the regions of Northern Bohemia, Upper Lusatia and Lower Silesia.

 


Ministry of the Environment

 

The Ministry of the Environment is the supreme authority for nature conservation and environmental protection in the Czech Republic, the central state authority for the protection of waters, air, nature and landscape, arable land, the state geological service, the protection of raw materials including minerals and underground waters, waste management, etc. It is also the central state authority for gamekeeping, fishery and forest management in national parks, and the central state authority for the state environmental policy.

 


State Environmental Fund

 

The State Environmental Fund is a Czech administrative body under the Ministry of the Environment. Its activities are governed by Act 388/1991 Coll. It is a major source of finance in the protection and improvement of the environment.
