One of Schwantner’s works can be seen in Černá Voda near the former Lahmer Inn. The memorial to WWI victims was established by the locals in the 1920s and 30s. The central slab and the sides bear the names of the inhabitants of Černá voda who fell in the war. The memorial is one of the few works by Schwantner located in a public place and still preserved. In 2013 it was restored, the restoration funded by the town as well as by private companies and individuals. The Death Dance cycle and the memorial to WWI victims show the artist‘s personal experiences from the battlefield – he voluntarily joined the army and participated in tough combat on the Soča river.
