The village was originally called Heinrichow, later Klášterec and eventually Lhota Klášterská, which indicates a historical link to a monastery called the Vrchlabí Provostship, founded near today’s village towards Hostinné before 1250 by the Benedictine order of Opatovice. The Provostship was not particularly rich and the Benedictine order did not manage the borderline forests too well, which almost led to the village becoming derelict in the 1st half of the 14th century. The village was later owned by several families and the main source of living was always submontane farming and later also textile production. Klášterská Lhota was never a large village, and with a population of 200 is today a quiet and clean place in the Krkonoše foothills.
